I'm the same way! I find that alot of the fun is changing things around. Deciding to get a new fish sometimes forces me to make changes, and then MTS sets in.

My 58 gal started out as a peaceful tetra tank with light river pebbles and plastic plants.
Then, I tried a Southwest theme with a darker substrate, lots of rocks, Southwestern plastic decorations, and some aggressive cichlids. Too violent for my tastes, so I auctioned off my surviving big cichlids.
Now, it's an angelfish/tetra/cory tank with live plants and lots of driftwood for the BN pleco.

Meanwhile, my 15 gal started out as a divided tank for three bettas, turned into a time out tank for cichlids with anger management issues, and is now a fishless planted tank.

The 10 gal was a betta tank filled with Java moss, then a crayfish tank with lots of rocks. Now it is a planted tank with driftwood for a murderous jewel cichlid.

In all, these three tanks have gone through 3 substrate changes, 4 redecorations, 3 different backrounds, and 6 changes in livestock. I THINK I'm finally settled on what I want. I think.

My problem is just wanting something different. I have 2 heavily planted tanks (55g and 29g) and then my 10g which is just a plant extra tank with my betta and harlies. Then I purchased a used 55g and was going to do another planted tank with Rainbowfish...well then I changed my mind to African cichlids (something totally different than I've ever had). So now I have an empty 38g and I'm doing some unique fish that I don't see at my LFS all the time...a high tech planted tank with pressurized CO2 which I've never done before. So really I just always want something different but instead of redoing my tanks, I set up new ones. :D Next on my list after the 38g, is a 20g long Shellie tank...if I can find the room.

Now I'm in the process of taking down the 10g and moving fish around so that I can use it as a QT tank for new fish.

Your tanks look nice by the way!

HEHE wow! thats me, I have had SOOOO many types of fish it is not funny, thanks..for the complements...im trieing to convince my parrents to let me get a 20 long ( I have ALLWAYS wanted one..I dont know why...I just think they look neat) so I can move all my fish in the 10 to it... I would like to see pics of your guy's tanks as well! HEHE

I have pictures. :)

Sorry, some are really blurry!! :(

OH WOW 8O 8O 8O your tanks are amazing!
so is that normal sized pea-gravel in the 29 and 10? and your plants grow fine in that? cause I was gona get a smaller grade subtrate but if yours looks that great then fooey on that :D

Thank you! Yeah its normal pea gravel. If you can buy Eco-Complete though, it grows plants extremely well. I'm eventually going to change the 29g over to Eco. I have it in my 55g and I love it.

Actually now my 10g has crushed coral as substrate. :D I got some new Africans today...Eureka peacocks and 3 of them are really small so I didn't want to add them to the big tank (afraid they'll get picked on). They are going to hang out in the 10g for a little while until they get a tad bigger. I'm gonna see how the Mbuna treat the other Eurekas and then I'll decide if the little guys are ready...they are barely an inch.

I know how you feel. My tank looks like crap right now, but its cycling. Once its finished its cycle, i'm gonna redecorate.

JustOneMore20 - HOLY MOLY ! those are great looking tanks. I THOUGHT I liked my 29G but after seeing your 55 ... well heck - I guess I'm not satsfied anymore !!! LOLOLOL
And I love the Malawi tank - I love the rockwork ! My DREAM is a 125G (or larger) Malawi tank ....

Thanks joannde!

My DREAM is a 125G (or larger) Malawi tank
That is my dream as well...to have a 125g eventually for my Malawis. I hope to get one in a couple years for them. :) By then they'll be a bit cramped in the 55g I'm sure.

yes i have done that and still do that quite often. i've had share of different looks:

SWEET looking tank, justonemo20, that's what i'm hoping mine will end up looking like

Well, actually I don't like to re-arrange the boundaries for my fish. They have established what seems be zones of comfort in my aqwuarium with current placement of rocks, stones, the jaguar skull, and of course the plants. Moving them around would only confuse and stress them, IMO. So, I try not to do too much re-arranging after the weekly water change or such. Most I usually do is prune the plants and maybe move the skull more to the left. Otherwise,m things have been kinda static in there for months, but I guess that's just me!

tank

Happy with a tank? Of course. Satisfied? Not really. LOL I always think of some improvement or modification I could make. I really do enjoy a tank when it has stabilised and looks good, but like some of you have said ........ the fun and work of planning, sweating, and setting up is half (or more) of the fun!!!!!
