I was just curious to hear from people what they think from their experience what the most efficient scavenger is for a 125 gallon tank (either for algae or for food)
 
It would depend on tank mates. My first thought would be a few BN Plecos, or a colony of nerites.

Also, not so much for algae, but for food clean up I absolutely love my pack of Synodontis multipuntata.
 
Malaysian trumpet snails, but they can overrun your tank very quickly.

Agreed, I never put MTS in my show tanks for that very reason. But they work wonders in fry tanks.
 
Haha, that is an option too. Although I'd rather just get some nerites. Sure they're pricey but they won't multiply and they do a good job of cleaning up.
