When I put my EC in, it clouded up my water for two days. Didn't bother me because I was cycling, but it's worth noting.
Best substrate for planted aquarium?

I have EC over dirt. My plants do very well and I don't dose ferts very much. I have a feeling its more the dirt than the EC but I like the black substrate look.
