My betta is hanging completely vertical at the top of the water....why is this? The pH was really low in the tank so I recently added some crushed coral and it raised the pH to about 6.8 so maybe that shocked him and made him sick? Idk but he looks really unhappy. What can I do?

Params:
Ammonia & nitrite -0
Nitrate: 20-30 ppm
Temp: 77

2 live banana plants and 1 fake one

He's alone in the tank besides a few pond snails.

What was the pH before you added the crushed coral? Sudden changes in pH can stress fish.

I'd do a water change to lower the nitrates. Mine sleeps that way occasionally. Is he not moving at all?

Wow my phone didnt tell me there were replies! The pH was around 5.0 before the coral so it definitely was a big swing :/

And I'll up my water changes. He sits like that most of the day not moving until I feed him
