Betta mates

My kids want a betta when I start my tank.
I was wondering if they following fish would be ok with betta's.
I have a 30 g high corner tank w/plastic plans and ornaments whisper filter, heater, and gravel
The numbers are off the top of my head more than likely the numbers will be lower.
Dalmation Mollies 3
Mickey Mouse fish 3
Neon Tetras 3
Five band barbs 3

Also if I was to get a betta can I put him in a fish-in cycle or do I need to wait until the fish-in cycle is complete.

If no to any of the fish I listed please make suggestions.

I would say 6 neon tetras, 2 mollies, 2 mickey mouse platys, 4 barbs
i would say wait until the cycle is over and add the betta LAST

Sound good I dropped the tetra to 5 and my tank is at 100% according to Aqadvisor.
I plan to do a fish-in cycle with prime and stability what fish should I do the fish-in cycle. The 4 barbs was recommended at LFS.
But could do it with the 2 mollies and 2 platys or the 5 neon tetras opinions welcome.
Forgot about an algae eater have to find one that will not grow large.

i highly suggest don't do a fish in cycle, get pure ammonia and do a fishless cycle. you wont have to deal with the endless water changes that come with having fish in there.

i did a fish in cycle and believe me it is alot of work!
