black diamond sand blasting sand from tractor supply

So i was in tractor supply today and seen some black sand called Black Diamond Sand Blasting sand i was just wondering if anyone had tried this and if it was fish safe if so how did effect PH or algae bloom or anything share your experience if you have one

interesting it makes me want to break everything down and put black sand in now lol i just moved everything last week from one side of the room to the other im starting to think i have an addiction i need AA aquariums anonymous

I put 100 lbs of it into my 220, looks great and no diatoms from the 50 lbs of fine-grade gravel I used for the base layer either.

Well its in i washed it out wit Guy pillow cases added some egg crate under it and also rescaped the tank picks when water clears

Still a little bit cloudy and some how i had some white sand find its way back in

Also what about the white sand mixed in, like it or not? I was thinking of adding some to it, mostly black is good, the white with a little black looks bad, I made up a sample with some other sand I had, didn't like that.

What a great price. Compared to $20-25. for 20 lbs.

I'm loving it, was worried that after it got mixed together with the white I started with it wouldn't look good, but the white doesn't show much at all. My dominant male featherfin dug quite a pit for spawning, and I've seen it scattered over rocks and even inside cichlid stones. Judging by the way the multi's filled a couple of shells with it I'd say they don't notice any difference from regular sand either.

Been using it for 5 months no problem now just make sure you rinse it very thoroughly then repeat again and again lol

Plus you should know it isn't a solid uniform black either there is some silver and gold to give it a much better look and even glints in the light at the right angle...I wouldn't use anything else other then pfs

no background just had a bubbler running as I was medicating when the pic was taken
