Im looking at this fish and am really getting mixed results on its care, and even if it's fresh or saltwater.

Has anyone owned one or knows some info on it?

Caleb

~10g tiger barbs
~45g ick problems/loach and 5 tetras left.
~75g going to be African cichlids

I guarantee liveaquaria did not label as fw

Uhhhh yeah there's a saltwater "neon goby" (Elacatinus oceanops) but there's also a fully freshwater "blue neon goby" (Stiphodon atropurpureus ).
There's a whole mess of 100% freshwater gobies. The biggest thing when keeping them however is making sure the tank is set up correctly and its an old and established tank.

And yeah there's two on Liveaquaria. One under the saltwater goby section and another one under the freshwater misc. section. They're two wildly different fish. Like in every sense.

Yes Elcatinus oceanops is sw. That's the only blue neon goby I know of lol! However if it is the one bichir mentioned than yeah fw. Just look at the scientific name

My friend has these Stiphodon in a river style tank.
High flow, unheated, plants and smooth river stones. Very attractive fish.

Repashy gel food is a favorite.

Thanks for the replies. It got me confused seeing both and which was which.

I think the water current needed might be a little high for my tank.
