Hello,
I have a nice colony of blue xenia which until I added a Deltec skimmer would extend nice and long during daylight hours. I recently added the skimmer, and after several weeks of skimming the xenia now barely open up, or extend. I am curious if the skimmer could be removing what the xenia need to thrive? I have heard/read that xenia likes salty, dirty water. Any truth to that?
I am running the Deltec MCE600 Turbo, which is rated at 180 gallons, my tank is a 55 gallon. All of my mushroom corals, as well as zoanthid corals seem to be doing fine. The water is crystal clear as well.
