I have an acrylic tank that i want to turn into a sump - i see that everyone adds baffles to theirs... What purpose do they serve, and what do i use if i have an acrylic tank as the baffles? I currently have a sump - but it was a prefab Pro-Clear unit... I am upgrading to a larger unit (current capacity is like 8.5 gallons - new is between 20 and 30 gallons). Please help - the pics on the DIY page were great, but i'm still a smidge confused as to the purpose of certain parts... Thanks

The baffles are to isolate the microbubbles that come from the water dumping into the sump. The water must flow through the baffles to proceed through the flow of the sump, and the baffles allow more time and help to force the bubbles to the surface so you don't get bubbles coming into your display tank out of the return pump.
