Buying a used Acrylic tank

I have had 2 acrylic tanks both had a black acrylic background as that's what I requested but its easy to put in yourself

You really cant beat how clear the water is in them. Thanks for the background (cover up) idea. I think im going to research polishing acrylic.

Try this about the sanded part, try flame polishing, get a torch, bic lighter won't due, but they make little torches that use little cigarette lighters as fuel and put the flame to an out of the way spot, and move the flame around slowly with the tip of the flame just touching the acrylic. You must keep the flame moving at a slow steady pace. If the scratches are not very deep they will come right out, or at least go from whitish looking to clear again. I used to work with injection molded plastic, (not exactly the same as acrylic I know) and that's how we got some scratches out in viewable areas.
