Can I just plop some filter floss in my tank like not in the filter but in the tank

Regardless of the mess, I would think when it quickly becomes water logged it would just sink to the bottom anyway

I’ve done it with plants that had roots grown into floss in pots but found it just gets messy as well. Also loaches, etc might get into it and find it irritating - I had that with yoyo loaches doing a lot of gill flicking until removed. Was a little odd but the only thing I could track it to (unless just loachy games )
