Hi, I am new to the forum. I have a question on power filter and filtration. I have a 55 gal fresh water tank with an Aqua Clear filter calibered for up to 70 gallons. But somehow I bought a higer model calibered for 100 gal. Can I use the larger filter on the 55 gal tank without problem? Thanks.

IMO, there is no such thing as to much filtration, i use a canister filter rated for a 150g on my 90g and 2 whisper 60's which are rated for like 60g's each on my 55.

over filtering no too much flow its possible. the thing with the filters is they over rate their products. a filter for a 100 gallon tank on a 55 would just about right filter wise.

what filter did you get for it? ac 110?

In a one word awnser...no (I guess that was 6 but who's counting) just watch your water flow. Ill have 2 fx5' on a 250 gal and each of those are rated for 400 gal each

Thanks for all the comments to help a newbie out. Good, I will deploy the bigger filter on the 55 gallon then. Cheers.
