Can you add salt directly to the aquarium?

I already have an aquarium set up with filtration, sand and rocks and water (its been running for 4 days, I know it isnt cycling yet). I didn't put enough salt while mixing the water so can I just add the rest of the salt directly to the display tank and wait for it to dissolve that way?

You can do that, just dont' get in the habit as once youhave livestock you definitely dont wanna do that.

As long as their are no animals in the tank you can add it, but when their are animals you have to mix it in water outside of the aquarium.
