I have a 55 gallon FOWLR with 50 to 60 lbs of live rock and a lady at local fish store told me I shouldn't be using my canister filter at all but everyone else I have talked to says it's fine idk who I should listen too

It is fine to use BUT only if you keep it clean through regular maintanence. If you don't keepit clean it will store up nitrates and pretty much ruin your parameters. lol

I used one on my 55g with a skimmer and was able to maintain 0 nitrates through cleaning it alot and paying attention to the tank.

How high do your nitrates run? If your at 10 or under I think youre doing good. :)

Well there kinda high at the moment cuz I didn't have an RO/DI so they were really but I got one and have done 2 water changes and the nitrates are coming down
