Since I started my tank I have used a hang on back filter which came with the tank alongside my canister and refugium. It is pretty much backup at this point, and barely causes enough water flow to matter. I want to remove it and use something more affective, like a skimmer, but I'm worried that removing it could cause an imbalance as it could harbor biological filtration? Is this possible? I don't want to cause any sort of cycling in my tank just by changing filtration and got a great deal of coral that I don't want to risk losing.
