Changing water help

Tank How often should you change your water with cichlids? Right now I do about 20% a week. I'm thinking about doing a 50% water change this weekend. Its pretty clean but if it helps the fish why not.

Your tank looks beautiful! What size tank do you have? Do u have an API water test kit? I have a 46 gallon cichlid tank and do a 30-50% water change and vac every week to two weeks depending on my availability.

Fish like clean water and their colors will be better in lower nitrates. A good tank maintenance routine every week will go a long way. A lot of people here swear by doing two 25% water changes twice a week.
