Cichlid sensitive to light?

I have a small african cichlid in my 50 gallon tank and it's seems he always hides were it is dark. Whenever I turn the light off he comes out and goes all around the tank. He only comes out for food and to move spots.

I have a aqueon led light strip is it two bright I moved the light toward the back and it didn't get better. He is small is it because he's young? Please help!

If he's by himself yea he should have plenty of hiding spots.

But he seems like he doesn't like the light shouldn't he come out every once and a while seems wierd

He never goes up to the top of the tank for food either
