Cichlid substrate

Hi I'm setting up a new tank as of now I just put a layer of flourite with a layer of small river rock over it. So waiting for the flourite cloud to settle. My waif wants to have this be a cichlid tank. I was wondering if cichlids will be ok with the flourite.
