Hi All

I have a 5" Red devil I'm looking to upgrade that tank can you guys let me know do I really need a closed lid tank or will the open is still fine or will my fish jump the new tank is 36" in width and 21" in depth

Yes you need a tight fitting lid, anphilophus of any species really are known for banging on glass. Also, a 40 gallon is going to be too small for an adult devil, you'll need a 75 sooner or later

Yep, they can be jumpers...

You're going to need a 75 for the Red Devil at some point, i hope you know.

75 will be for a single fish too.No tank mates as aggression is very high and more often than not they will not accept any tank mates at all.

Yep. Its a possibility depending on its temperament, but its unlikely. I would stick to just the RD in a 75.
