cichlids with red eyes question

I want to let you know that I am very new just started my aquarium one week ago I bought two cichlids and they both have red eyes I am just curious if this is normal or if this is a disease please help

In what way are your cichlid's eyes red? Is the eye color itself red, or is there red around the eyes, as in an irritation? Were the eyes red when you purchased them?
What breed of cichlids did you get? A few fish species have red eyes.
Having just began your tank a week ago, I would say that since adding fish, your ammonia is fairly high, as the tank didn't have time to properly cycle. THere's a thread about how to properly cycle your tank at the beginning of the getting started forum, I believe. You can also find some informative videos on youtube.
