Confused betta

So I got a new betta a few days ago and every time I would come up to the tank he will come check me out. Pretty normal behavior but I noticed yesterday that he only comes out for me. He will check me out and start building a bubble nest then he flares at me a bit and tries to get as close to me as possible( as far as the tank permits lol) I am sitting on my couch right now and his tank is above me and guess who it right there watching me.... I'm not concerned maybe I just make him happy just wanted to share and get any thoughts.

Yeah, my beta just swims around but if I get close BANG! He's at the top of the tank begging for food. I've gotta tell you, these guys have a personality to match any cichlid.
