Hi guys I've been starting to like cichlids more and more and I've heard some mixed feelings on severums i really like the color to them. I have a festivum that I've had for 3 years and never seem any aggression at all from him I also just got a uaru that's about 4 inches and a keyhole that's about 2 inches both are peaceful too I also have a pair of kribs in my tank that breed and had 8 fry all about 2 inches now and doing great.

I think right now you need to address what is already in your tank. I forgot who made the comment yesterday and where, but it is better to have less types of fish in the tank done the right way, than many different fish that aren't compatible, or have have enough numbers.

Right now you have 9 different species of fish in your tank. Two of the species need more numbers as it is. Also, the fish you have now are more on the peaceful side. Cichlids are aggressive fish, and even the peaceful fish can snap at any time. If you put another cichlid in there, I fear it could turn bad. Also, most cichlids prefer to be the biggest fish in their tank, so they might get mad at your ghost knife. That is why, like discus, you mainly will see cichlid-only tanks.

Severums are also semi-agressive, which may not bode well for your tank. I would address your loach/cory numbers issue first.

I know ciclihds are normally agreesive I just heard people put them with festivums and uarus and I was getting frozen bloodworms yesterday at petco and a guy brought in a really nice gold severum about 5 inches and matt a guy I know that works there really wants me to take it the guy said he was switching to saltwater so that's why he was giving him away I don't buy fish a petco but with him only being in a tank for a day I'm tempted just because he's free and looks like really good condition thanks for your guys thoughts and adding more Corys Is my top thing right now

I understand. It is very tempting. I might ask if you can move him to an actual aquarium specialty store. He would have a better shot at getting a good home there, and have less risk of catching a disease that Petco and Petsmart can be known for.

I have a mixed tank, they're all smaller sized though. 2 electric blue acara, 1 Cupid cichlid, 4 angels. Used to have a spot cheek cichlid in there but he was a bully so he was removed.

I wouldn't but you can always try it, just have to be ready to remove one or the other if they battle. They probably will.. I just wouldn't.

Never know.. throw a larger colorful fish with a temper in his home and see how he feels about it..
