I am trying to ID these and can't find anything resembling them. They break off easily if you touch them or when I moved the rock around. They look like little pineapples to me. The rock I bought was "fully cured" from petco and there was nothing on it at all when I bought it. There was not even a stitch or corraline algae on it. These just started growning. I can't find anything on this site or the referenced links. I have several Baensch books also - no joy. Any ideas? I do not think these are Aiptasia.

+1 on sponges. They are filter feeders that are beneficial. They will do no harm to your tank and only help filter the water.

Thank you very much. It's much easier to learn about them when you know what they are. Awesome.
