We had the opportunity to pick up an adult pair of Cryptoheros cutteri at an auction back in September. We got an incredible deal and couldn't pass them up. We've been waiting for them to spawn ever since- although we did not buy them as a proven pair, we knew that they're supposed to be easy to spawn so we figured it wouldn't take long. Well finally, I went out into the fishroom last week and noticed that the male was colored up brighter than usual, and the female looked like a completely different fish than before. I knew they had spawned, but couldn't find where they had laid the eggs no matter how closely I watched them. Yesterday I went out to feed fish and saw the pair surrounded by a massive cloud of free swimming fry. The tank they were in is a divided 50 breeder with a Cryptoheros sajica male on the other side of the divider, so we knew we had to get those fry out of there fast. We ended up moving the pair to a 29 gallon of their own, and the fry went into a 10 gallon growout tank. Anyway, here are the pics.
