I messed up. I over cleaned my 10g betta tank and killed my cycle.

For whatever reason, I gravel vac'd, cleaned the filter, and rescaped on the same day. Doh! :banghead::banghead::banghead:

Things looked fine until I was feeding him this morning and I noticed his fins are all ragged. Out comes the test kit, which shows .5 ammonia (it's in the tap water, nothing I can do about that). 0 nitrites, 0 nitrates. Dosed with Prime to help him feel better. Added a chunk of sponge from one of the other cycled tanks to hopefully help with restarting the cycle.

I don't know what I was thinking, but I'm upset with myself. I've had him and the snail for a year, and this is a first.

Hey we all make mistakes, just keep an eye on the ammonia. Adding that pre cycled media from another filter was definitely a good call man! Keep us updated, I’m sure your betta will be just fine!
