Damsel fish?

for my b-day my mom went to the lfs and picked up a damsel fish for my 45gal and i dont know much about it the fish is all white with 3 black stripes on its upper body and it trys to nibble at my hermit carbs would it be a good ideal to buy another fish or would it eat it

no it has 3 short stripes comeing from its back

or thay could be spots and another thing it does is fan sand around to make little hide outs
