Dead spot

I have a 55 gallon tank with and emperor 400 and a penguin 660 powerhead. One side of my tank has great current while the other side is stagnant. I was looking into some circulation pumps but I want some advice before choosing one

Just an idea but try moving the powerhead to the opposite side from the filter. I would consider adding another hob filter rather than circ pump but that's just my opinion. I'm sure others will have suggestions as well.

Would another emperor 400 be good?

Yes, this would eliminate any dead areas. Something to consider!
