Diatom | UV Sterilizer in a planted tank?

I used to keep Discus and had a diatom filter with UV sterilize in-line that was set to run for 2 hours a night.

Now I have a planted tank and wonder if there is a reason not to hook the diatom and uv up....can anyone advise?

I can't think of any reason NOT to use the diatom filter and the UV in a planted tank. Together, they will kill and remove algae that would only compete with your plants for nutrients and light.
