My tank has been set up with lr for a week now, and a few days into it i got brown algae already, i cut my lights down to 8 hrs a day, and am using r/o d/i water, how long does it take for the algae to burn itself out, and is there anything i should be doing to help. I am in no hurry of getting fish, the lr is more than enough to stair at, and i am still in the process of cycling. TIA

I had the same thing after a week. It is starting to subside after one week but I have ordered a cleanup crew of snails and hermits to help. I would think it would burn out on its own in a couple to few weeks but I wanted to get some help.

it will definitly burn out on its own. dont worry about it
