Discus

[Crusis]

How fragile are Discus? My wife wants me to order a few, but I've heard a lot about how fragile they are, how demanding they are as to water conditions. These are not inexpensive fish either, if you order them online you'll be coughing up $50 after shipping, and the ones locally in the fish stores are $20-$200.

I'd like to get some advice on them before I buy such expensive fish.

I agree that when first learning about discus, it's VERY intimidating. Hardness, pH, temperature, lighting, feeding, tankmates are all tricky with these fish it seems. I wish I had some personal experience with them, but I don't. Try reading here:
