Pardon my stupidity, but what is a DI filter and is there an AA glossary for abbreviations, so I won't have to ask all the time?

A DI filter is a "deionizing" filter which is normally used in conjunction with a RO membrane in a RO/DI filter setup. But the original poster is talking about a DE filter which is a diatom filter... DE short for "diatomaceous earth". It's a type of filter used to polish water and clean it within a tank. Mostly used for FW though.
