DIY Plywood tank

So, here's my DIY Plywood tank. But for the actual plywood sheet which I had lying around I spent under 20 dollars, which, given the outside dimensions of 24x20x12 means I probably managed about $1 per gallon.

I used plywood, screws and glue, a stain (2 coats) , a polyurethane (3 coats), and a plastic liner with silicone to seal it together. I still have 2 more days of curing on the silicone then I get to see how it holds water.

Interesting. You have a small viewing window. You could have ditched the front wood and used a single piece of glass. But its different and cool. What you gonna put in it?

Well, the water test failed, I missed silicone on about an inch long section at the top of the viewing window. And this is a test bed for a much larger tank, 24x48 front viewing pane, but with the same wood border. That would give it a 22x46 inch viewing area, and a tank height of 28 inches and a width of 52, depth of 24... thats a nice hefty 150 gallon tank. I think I"m going to use liquid rubber, used that for another project and love it.

Use pond liner. You can usually buy it by the foot from a pond store.
