Well, I am using my drilled tank as freshwater so I made a filter out of my sump. Just thought I'd share what I did.

The return pipes are going below the poly fill to clean the debris out of the water. and the next basket is upside down because the dang pot scrubbies float! So they are in the basket 30 of them... maybe I will add more who knows. The scrubbies are supposed to be for the bio filter.

Forgot to attach the picture... Lol

Im not exactly happy with the results of this, It doesnt seem to be working like I thought it would. Everything is floating and I think the flow is taking the easy route and not really going through the filter media.

How is yours set up? Post some pics if you dont mind.

Thanks!

I can't post pics. On the top of mine i have a plastic set of 3 draws. media in each one. Pull out the draw clean the media. A box of bio media under that. You would have to pick up your pipe. PS A LOT OF LITTLE HOLES IN THE BOTTOM OF EACH DRAW. Makes a nice wet/dry.

Ill post some more pics later this AM.
My basic setup: I'm using a 30 gal for my sump divided in 3. Divider in right has 2-3 in gap on bottom. Divider on left has gap on top. PVC from tank goes to a "t" connection. Right side goes to right chamber which is main filtration area. Drains onto a drip plate. Under drip plate is white filter felt and then blue/white filter pad. That sits on egg crate. Below egg crate is pot scrubbies which sits on another egg crate to keep it 3-4 inches off bottom. Its important to keep them out of water...you want the water running g through them to grow the BB. Water drains through some more filter pad to center which is return area. The left chamber normally holds a seeded sponge filter for use in other tanks.

Hope these help. The random scrubbers floating around are Just extra that I use in seeding other tanks. I also never toss out my filter pad when changing it. I Just cut it and put it in another chamber.
