Do Hermits mult?

I found "bodies" of my hermits around the tank I took out 3 and I bought 5 but somehow there are still 4 crawling around did they multiply or was it mult that i removed? It looked exactly like a hermit. Thanks. My paremeters are amm. 0 nitrites 0 and nitrates 20ppm

Hermit crabs do molt. I find molts all the time. Parameters look OK, except that you should consider a partial water change now, since your nitrate are up to 20. Invertebrates are very sensitive to water quality. The lower your nitrate the better.
