Do you know if LED light strips provide enough and the right spectrum of light to support my tank life or should it only be used to supliment my main strip light?
Fish really don't need any light if they're in a normal room of the house. Plants or coral are a completely different story. LEDs can support them, but you can't use the cheap little LEDs from eBay or RadioShack. You need more power.
my tank is away from any direct sunlight I like it this way because it keeps away green alge completely I have found, so they just get bulb light. Do you think in these conditions LED's are still suitable?
Also do you think its ok to do this please?
