Hi all

I have just brought 3 new dwarf gourmi's which I am led to believe are female as they were specially ordered in for me by my local fish store.

However I have now got them home and I am convinced they may be male powder blue dwarf gourmi's as they are very colourful, I really hope they are not male or I will have 6 males in one tank which is not good, I really want 3 males and 3 females.

The reason I am doubting they are females are because I have had females before and they were plain grey things, these however are a lovely blue colour (although not as colourful as the 3 males I already had)

Please see attached YouTube video I have recorded, a really good view of one is around the 50 seconds to 1 minute mark

Thanks for looking

I have 5 dwarf Gouramis 2m 3f and ideally there should be more females than males.
so really you want 5 females for your males. They look like males so I would take them back and see if you can get females. I'll attach picture of mine for you.
First one is a male second is a female

Look at the anal fin. If its rounded then it is a female. If its more of a point it is a male. Gouramis are not like guppys where the colorfulness can help tell the difference. Hope this helps.

Actually they are . Males colour is much more vivid and bright , whereas females are a silver gold colour. Females when mature are smaller than males as well.

Actually they are. Males have more coloration than females. . The anal in is One of the differences but they do have different coloration. Females are gold silver and males are blue, red and so on. Your probably thinking of pearl, gold, blue Gouramis . :)
