I noticed this problem with my elephant fish, and now have him in a hospital 10g tank.
I can't tell if this is damage from another fish, or some kind of fungus eating away at it.

Any suggestions? Other fish look good, and never had them attack the elephant before.

Who are the tankmates, what size tank, what filtration and is the white spot fuzzy or no?

Looks like it's been attacked, what stock is in with him? These are species only fish, they're easily bullied and damaged.
Plenty of clean water and good food, I wouldn't return him to the tank.

55 gallon elephant nose tank.
30 gallon boraras ,bamboo shrimp, crs,rcs and different snails.

I think he was bullied then. When I bought him they said he would be fine in my American cichlid tank.

I have a 125g with two fluval 306 and one sunsun 404

The tank has a flowerhorn , blue arcas, and parrot fish.

They have been together for at least 6 months when I noticed this

He is now in a 10g hospital tank , but I may have to leave him there and then maybe give him away.

Nothing looks fuzzy to me.

He's definitely damaged his slime coat, I would keep him in the hospital tank and do frequent pwc, don't add anything like salt or meds as this could kill him.
If you add him back into the tank they will attack him again.
Hope he heals.

Does stress coat or pimafix help? Or just time?
Thanks

I would just give it time. If you keep his water clean he'll hopefully not get an infection. Keep an eye on him.
