Filter/bacteria question

Hi everyone. I got a new tank and took one of my 2 filters from the old tank and put it in the new one to get the bacteria going. Everything seems to be going well. It's been about a week. Each tank has an old filter and a new one. How long do I have to wait before changing the bag in the old filters; they are getting kind of nasty...

What are your water parameters? I would say if you're getting 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite and some nitrate you can change the other bag and watch the parameters closely.

Amonia was at .25 nitrates at about 20. No nitrites though. This was after a 25% water change. I just did another one. I'm thinking I should leave it in there a bit longer, no?

Yeah, give it some more time. You don't want to have to re-cycle your tank.
