filter cleaning

how many of you clean your filter (not the filter media, the actual housing)? and how often do you do it?

I have an XP2 filter on my 46g.
If the housing is cruddy, I clean it every 3 months or so.
Oddly enough, I find common snails in it.
There aren’t any snails in the tank itself, guess the large angels get them.
I totally clean my HOB’s on the smaller tanks once a month.

really depends on the filter and tank. ones that i have a pre filter on i clean that often but not so much the rest of the filter. canisters depending on the tank once again i use them mostly for flow and take dirt out of the water. i clean them once the flow goes down.
