Yes there is. Its really versatile. It has 3 media baskets that you can do with what you please

No its not. You really dont need to replace things as often as it seems. Maybe 1 to 2 times a year if even that

How much is if to fill the whole thing with basic media

You really don't replace anything just rinse it out in tank water. Put some wter in a bucket and swish everything in there one at a time. My filter had ceramic rings enough for one basket and charcoal. I also have poly fill in my top basket.
