Filter position for cichlid tank

I've heard that cichlids need awesome filtration. I have a fluval 304 canister and a HOB filter for a 55 gallon tank. My question is where to position the intake and outtake of the canister and where to put the HOB for best circulation/filtration.

I have a 48" long 60g and run a F406 and a AC110, I run the F406 on the right side and the AC110 on the left side as seen in the pic below. I also run a K750 circulation pump to keep the waste off the substrate. Keeps the water pretty clean.
