Well I finally went to his house and you guys were right it's a goldfish it's about 3-4 inches long he has it in a tropical set up with mollies is that ok or do goldfish stress in high temp? It's around 78 degrees

78 is too warm for a goldfish, highest I've seen recommended is 72-74. It will live, but It won't do as well as if it were in the proper temperatures.

Well...now I don't know! I found an article that say up to 80 is okay!
Goldfish, Fancy Goldfish - Carassius auratus
I would just keep a very close eye on it.
