fish identification??

Ya it does but I've looked on multiple internet sites and they don't have anything that looks like it

First thing that comes to mind is a type of basslet. I'm very curious on what it is myself .

Go to Aquarium Fish: Tropical Freshwater Fish and Saltwater Fish for Home Aquariums and look at blennies. I know its a blenny, just not which one.

I think it looks more like a blenny

Creole Wrasse, maybe? Can't see the caudal and anal fin coloration, but the rest looks about right.

Believe it or not, it's a damselfish: Lepidozygus tapeinosoma. They do behave like a Pseudanthias though, often schooling with them.

I have collected this species many times. It is an odd little fish though, and often stumps even professional fish taxonomists. I have seen jars of them in museum collections misidentified as Pseudanthias species.

Please do an image search on Lepidozygus! Blenny species that have a similar body form are members of the family Blenniidae, which lack scales. Scales are clearly visible in the photograph.

The species varies quite a lot in coloration, but the one in your photograph is fairly typical. Here's one for comparison: Lepidozygus tapeinosoma
