What fish stocking can I put in a 40g(150 litre) tank

What kind of tank did you want? You could do African Cichlids, South American cichlids, a tropical community tank, all kinds of things. Step one is figuring out what you're interested in.

There are way too many options. I have a book with over 1500 pictured cichlids and that's probably not half of what is out there.

You could do a pair of Thorichthys meeki (firemouth cichlid) or a pair of Archocentrus nigrofasciatus (convict cichlid).
