Florida gar aqua scaping after rocks are done boiling

It's only housing one Florida gar, I used. Natural rocks that I boiled, and the water is a little cloudy dew to a new 40-100gal filter but the gar is wonderfully heathy, he only eats minnows tho.. He's getting quite fat lol is this ok?

Could get up to 30-60 inches, of course he will grow out of it, but if you do a little research you will find out that I'f you put them in a large tank they migh get spooked and dart into the side of the tank and break their fragile back, when they are in a smaller tank he wont be able to pick up enough speed to harm him self, at the rate her growing i think he will be in a 55gal by christmas!
 
That's the first thing I did before I even thought about buying him, today I added drift wood, redid the rocks and got a new tetra whisper EX45
 
Along with a undergravel running just to keep it slightly aired
