Flourite/Laterite Questions

Have a few questions in regard to flourite and laterite.

Is it best to leave the laterite on the bottom or mix it into the laterite?

Would there be any benefit to letting the substrate sit in shallow water and multiple doses of ferts?

How light(weight) is the flourite? Will it settle quicker than dirt?

How does it hold up to gravel vacuuming?

Got any other tips?

Whenever I used either, I just mixed it with my existing gravel. It's just a little lighter than reg gravel but heavier than sand. It may be tad cloudy at first, even after rinsing but it settles quick. My plants do great.
