Fluval Flora/Ebi

Does anyone have any experience with these kits? I picked up an Ebi on sale for $80 for my Betta but the filter that comes with it has a loud mechanical sound to it and seems louder when I reduce the flow. I can't run the filter wide open because it's quite powerful for the little 7.8 gallon tank and seems to stress my Betta out. Should I down grade to smaller internal filter or contact Hagen/Fluval to see if this is a known issue?

I've had one of those Fluval Nano filters running in my tank before. It was actually very quite unless there was a bubble stuck in it or it was time to clean it out.

Hmmm maybe I just have a bum filter then.

Since the lower part doesn't snap on very well, make sure that it is on all the way and not crooked. That's one other time that it made noise.

I played around with it but it still seems to have a dull hum/buzz that you can hear when you start to get close. I am considering upgrading the filter to a Fluval U1.
