Freshwater dip before QTing?

All,

Before I QT my pending Foxafce Lo, is there any benefit to giving it a freshwater dip first?

My thought is even if the fish is ich free, perhaps the LFS weter contains ich. Maybe the dip would prevent the free swimming parasites from hitching a ride?

i know that these dips are NOT an effective treatment for ich.

FW dips are VERY stressful on a fish. The QT should take care of any problems that might arise.

FW dips have absolutly no benefit to the fish. As mentioned, they only serve to stress an already stressed out fish. Keep in mind that parasites have hard exo-skeletons and can withstand the FW dip much better then their hosts can. They just do more harm then good.

I agree that FW dip stress the fish out more than it helps but i have to say that it does rid the fish of some parasites.

More importantly keep the fish in QT for a good amount of time (minimum of 2 weeks) and observe carefully.
