Well, after 3 weeks of fish cycling with no seeded media, I was seeing zero results indicating cycling had not even started. So, as some of you know, I went out to my local aquatic store and pleaded them to sell me some seeded media, which they finally did (sponge). I cut it in half and put each half into my marineland HOB filters YESTERDAY morning. When I did, my results were 1.0 ammonia, 0 nitrites, and 0 nitrates (it had been those results since I first put the water and fish in 3 weeks ago). Well, tonight, I just decided to test the water and surprisingly I got these results, 0.5 ammonia, 0 nitrites, and 10 nitrates! Does this mean my tank is cycling and actually almost done! Can putting seeded media into a tank cycle a tank that fast? Thanks

It is done cycling when ammonia and nitrites are at 0. You have to do water changes to reduce nitrates, which is the last stage of cycling.
