Anybody running a freshwater tank with a sump set-up? I'm starting to think about redoing my 55gal trout tank using a drilled tank and set-up a sump beneath it. That would allow me to run some plants down there, and since I have a student who is interested in doing some hydrophonics, so it could could of do double duty.

Just curious as to if anybody else is currently doing this, and if so how it is working.

Cool WY I just stated a 125 show tank with a 50 gal sump (30 gall wet dry and a 20 gal planted with a deep sand bed) on on day two of the build, should be fun, tested the overflow on tonight,

Yes, I run a sump. It is working quite well. If you ahve a drilled tank, definitely go for it.

Nice; hopefully you have a thread - I'll see if I can find it.

I have nothing planted in the sump. My plants are in the tank itself. I use the sump mostly to hide equipment & also to increase water volume.

they are very under rated on the fw side. there are a lot of people who do plants in the sump since they cant do it in the main tank for what ever reason.
